West Goes Back to Back and Carter Pockets $1,000.00

Marshalltown, Iowa (June 13th, 2025)

It was a beautiful night at America’s bucket list track with 97 cars checked in across all IMCA classes. It was a special night for the IMCA Modifieds as they were racing for $1,000.00 presented by P&D Welding Solutions and $500.00 to win the Mod Structural Shoot-Out.

Before our first feature of the night, it was time to crown a Mod Structural Shoot-Out champion. The winner would secure a $500.00 payday. Joel Rust, Kollin Hibdon, Logan Anderson, David Brown, Cayden Carter, Tim Ward, Izac Mallicoat, and Todd Shute raced their way into the shootout semifinal rounds after finishing in the top two of their quarterfinal rounds. Joel Rust won his semifinal round, with Kollin Hibdon finishing second, advancing the two to the shootout final. Cayden Carter and the 4TW of Tim Ward would also join Rust and Hibdon in the three-lap finals shootout. Joel Rust would be crowned the Mod Structural Shoot-Out champion and secure $500.00. Kollin Hibdon, Tim Ward, and Cayden Carter rounded out the top four.

Following the $500.00 to win Mod Structural Shoot-Out, it was time for the IMCA SportMods presented by Rugged Radios feature. Josalyn Elmquist started on the pole after Dayton Swatek, who was scheduled to start on the pole but did not start (DNS). Brady Hilmer and his 22JR machine out of Dysart, Iowa, started to Elmquist’s outside. Hilmer would lead lap one. Matt Avila ripped the top to pass Hilmer to take the lead with 17 laps to go. Avila faced a few restarts, but it didn’t faze that 2X machine. Avila would see the white flag and had his sights set on the checkereds before missing his mark coming off turns three and four, and Kyle Olson would steal the 20-lap IMCA SportMods feature presented by Rugged Radios. Brayton Carter, with a run of plus eight, finished third; Will Wolf and Brady Hilmer rounded out the top five.

The IMCA Mod Lites 15-lap feature presented by Drury Automotive was next to the track. Jaxon Carr, a Des Moines, Iowa, native, started on the pole; Dillon Bush started to his outside after the 82 of Charlie Brown elected to go to the tail. Carr would lead early on. Josh May would get past Carr to take the lead with 12 laps to go. Josh May ran away to secure the 15-lap feature win, while behind him there was great side-by-side racing between Austin Gray, Ben George, Jaxon Carr, Bryan Zhem, Alex Eischeid, and Colby Oberembt. Gray, George, Carr, and Zhem would round out the top five.

It was time for the IMCA Stock Cars feature presented by Knight Sanitation. Brayton Carter and Jeff Muller led the field to the green flag. Muller would lead lap one. Muller would lead from the drop of the green to the checkered despite having to battle Brayton Carter and Jimmy Gustin for the win. Gustin, Carter, Thor Anderson, and Maguire DeJong rounded out the top five.

It was time for the IMCA Hobby Stocks presented by Big 8 Tyre Center to gear up to go 16 laps. Kael Koch and Kale Hemsley. Hemsley would lead lap one. Hemsley would lead the last lap before Sam West, last week’s feature winner, would beat Hemsley to the flag stand in yet another thriller finish. Eric Knutson, Eric Stanton, and Corey VanDerwilt rounded out the top five.

It was time for a nightcap, and the IMCA Modifieds feature presented by Tire Demon by Love Tap did just that. Izac Mallicoat and Kyle Brown led the field to the green flag. Mallicoat would lead lap one and early on before Cayden Carter would get past Mallicoat and would pull away. Mallicoat would fall back to 4th and charge back to 2nd before Joel Rust got past him. Carter would drive away and secure the $1,000.00 presented by P&D Welding. Joel Rust, David Brown, Izac Mallicoat, and Jake McBride would finish 5th after Tom Berry Jr., who finished in that position, but would be disqualified for post race un-sportsmanship activates

Next week, June 20th, it’s $1,000.00 to Win IMCA Stock Cars presented by Midwest Liquid Systems. The five other regular IMCA classes, including the IMCA Sport Compacts, who took this week off presented by Hy-Vee, will be back in action. Pits open at 5:15, grandstands open at 5:30, and the racing action begins with hot laps at 6:45 Be sure to follow along on our social media channels and at marshalltownspeedway.com.
